"Steveo33837 August 2, 2016: One for those in the know... " Schcooze me, if-oy'm awll Danny-Dyer, loy'ke..butt 'air-vy lay-urf va' craah'n, n' all vat?! Actually old bean, 'Mentality' is a simple mashup, sampling the likes of New Order's Blue Monday against the back drop of Exocet's 'Lethal Weapon,' released on CATT just after this (or is it the other way around?! I wonder what happened? Was there a fight? Did someone take their Akai home vowing to never come out and play again? Did their Mum's patch it all up or did Dad have to go around and demand the Jerrycan for the lawn mower back...) On the subject of Exocet "in-me-umble-opinyon, loyke"...just for the use of bleep with breakbeat back in early 89, it should be given serious nod...plus, it puts the sample used here to way better use in Lethal Weapon; even when, combined with Sweet Talk, it makes me think about that time 8 years earlier when the Radio One Roadshow came to town. How I yearn for a time when chips and a "Savloy sausage" meant just that!

agree with steveo33837 but wanted to mention feeling wild, another great track with smooth bass lines and hypnotic rhythms, sounds simple but effective

Mentality is a classy simple house roller which I was made aware of from a DJ Fingers (Luton) mix tape.

Soft smooth beats + melody... the main keys are a little like Tour De France. The track starts off with a speech sample and then moves into a bassy 4/4 beat - few small strings, followed by chilled key rhythms, which make up the bulk of Mentality. A pretty easy track to mix as it's beats are very clear, throw it in an old skool set rather than the usual cheese like 'Let Me Be Your Fantasy' and this will impress.

Minimal but hypnotic and very catchy. One for those in the know... If you chat to people who know their stuff from around this time and ID Mentality they will realise you recognise quality!
