Jam & Spoon continue to capitalize on Plavka's voice with ANGEL, but it feels almost perfunctory. Their "Slow Radio Version" reprises the synths from their remix of the Pet Shop Boys' "Yesterday When I Was Mad," though it's still pretty to hear. Their "La Fiesta Musical Mix" picks the pace back up to club levels and brings in that Spanish guitar again. Groovecult go high-energy deep with their "El Magnifico Mix," while Carl Cox keeps his tempo at a more steady pace with a more traditional techno feel. DJ Misjah pumps up the acid for a extended dark-tinged builder, and Awex maintains the acid, though with a more upbeat mix. Pascha, for their take, keep a steady foot on the floor with a rolling club tune. A good single, if not particularly noteworthy.

This single begins with two variations of 'Angel' by Jam & Spoon themselves. The first one, 'Slow Radio Version' is a nice downtempo rendition of the song, without the Spanish guitar and tango elements usually associated with their singles. 'La Fiesta Musical Mix' is almost identical and as fast as the original '158 BPM Mix', but constructed in a different way.
The best remix taken out of the lot is, without a doubt, the DJ Misjah version. 1995 was the year most of us discovered the acid sound of Josh Wink ('Higher State Of Consciousness'). And here is a very good variation of it. Dark, urban, almost violent. The spirit of it perfectly fits the image found on the back cover of the single (taken from the video: two girls ready to empty their guns in a backstreet).
The 'Pascha Mix' is a rather conventional Progressive House version. The 'El Magnifico Mix' seems to borrow much from 'Can You Feel It?', the B-Side of 'Angel'. It's as fast and as delirious. Awex seems to go in the same direction, but with a slower BPM.
