If James Brown and company weren't already at the height of their funkiness, they were fast approaching! Ain't the Funky should be included in the hall of fame of JB classic grooves. Aside from the cooler than cool cat production employed by JB, there are some serious gut-busting moments on this song. Listen to the entire 9 or so minutes and you'll hear him "get into his thing" by making sounds that can only be described as inappropriate, call on a reluctant Jabo Starks (drummer) to confirm that the song is indeed funky, and attempt to impress everyone with his non-existent organ skills (read Fred Wesley's "Hit me Fred" autobiography for more info on JB and the facial expressions he made while playing the organ).
Gang Starr used "Nose Job" on their Step in the Arena album I believe.
