The first three tracks are very similar-sounding dance tracks done in the classic Jeff Mills style: nothing too fancy, just very clean, mechanical, 909-dominated techno arrangements that pulse and bump and tihk-a-tihk along on an even keel for a while, then change up near the end, either becoming more tonal and thematic or stripping down to the bare drum machine. The standout is the Original Soundtrack mix, which is the same as on the Three Ages album. This version is completely different than the others. It's not beatless but isn't really for dancing, either. It's primarily melodic, in a Black Dog/Plaid sort of way (vaguely), and it always makes me think of the Inside the Ancient Pyramid level on Super Mario 64. I rank it as one of my favorite modern electronic themes to just listen to on its own. How it fits in to a soundtrack to a Buster Keaton comedy, I can't imagine.
