While I'll admit there is definitely a similar sound in the Something In The Sky series, I'm siding with "the future of techno" over "minimal cop out" (This was supposed to be a 'reply' to johnbennett's review, somehow it ended up as a separate review). I'm convinced Jeff Mills was abducted by aliens, and now IS an alien but DJ part time. He's a genious. Be sure to listen to B1 of SITS 005... it blows me away. As far as "tweaking" goes, I think techno by its very repetitious nature leaves room for tweakage and still getting away with being another legit cut. Indeed, variety is not the key here with the SITS series, but I'll take a full length CD of this stuff any day. There's also a difference between needle-drop comparisons and actually getting in the zone of the track; in other words, getting lost in the groove for the duration where you hear more on the subconscious level. I suggest you listen to this whole record again, and with headphones. My 2 cents.
