Like Godflesh but with a more personal, reflecting, introspective mood (that, in the first track, reminds me a bit of later Anathema). The result is really interesting and – sad. I think in its core Jesu "Heart Ache" is about survival, emotional and mental survival. But as resigned as it sounds there is also hope. The cover artwork depicts it too: a dark landscape (the unconscious?), but when you take the CD out it's the same landscape in bright light (the conscious?), with a yellow field of rape.
There's a soothing quality to it, especially to the title track, a track that is for the open-minded, no matter if they usually listen to underground music or to music from the radio. Arguably one of Broadrick's best works.

The most heavy, and very emotional release to date. No other form of music has been able to touch me on such an emotional level as this EP.. This is really like extreme heart ache in the form of sound. It makes me feel really angry at one moment, sad the next, and eventually even very happy. The progression of the tracks is just so wonderful.. This is like modern-day classical music, but with a very heavy post-metallic twist. This is a must listen, in my opinion. Check out the tracks on Youtube, and buy them if you like them. I have the CD, but heck, I even want to get the vinyl because I love this so much.
