Hendrix was relatively unknown in the US until this performance at the Monterey Pop Festival which culminated in the iconic sacrifice of his guitar at the end of Wild Thing. This is one of the earliest live recordings of the Experience and whilst Hendrix's live performances would get more expansive as his career progressed, and there are better live performances of most of these songs, this is still an interesting document of the birth of a legend. "Killing Floor" and "Rock Me Baby" are particularly hot.
