New York's Richie Weeks in effect!

Most will know and remember Richie for his fantastic disco and boogie productions for cult labels like Salsoul and Prelude. He's definitely another important and influential producer to add to an already big list of unbelievable talents of breadth and vision. Saying that, he still doesn't seem to get the same respect of his peers. Anyway, after a brief hiatus, Richie was once again back on the club scene producing some cool and interesting house and garage tracks circa 1987 - 1992.

'Out' A The Box' is a somewhat strange release in that it was released in '88 and, as the house scene was well and truly established by now, it's hard to know whether it was made new in '88 as a throwback to the early post-disco and proto-house days or an unreleased track from Ritchie's vault. Whatever, the track is a bomb in every way!

The original '88 release, released on the tiny and obscure Goldqwest imprint, is very rare indeed (good luck finding a copy that won't hurt your wallet!) but the good news is that it was recently repressed last year. I don't own the repress (I am lucky enough to own two original copies) so I can't personally comment on the sound quality, but reports here on Discogs are not good.
