It's interesting that Joe Henderson carved out a niche for himself during the 60s that consisted of doing standards, blues, hard bop, post bop, latin with a little bit of modal mixed in for modernity. He didn't seem interested in doing avant-garde or anything that could be conceived of as being adventurous. But he still got the job done musically. On the release he does a departure in one respect; George Cables plays electric piano exclusively. No Me Esqueca is actually his standard Recorda Me retitled. This is followed by another standard, Invitation which sounds really great. Side One is rounded out by his own original composition Shade Of Jade. It's interesting that he alternates sets/tunes between Curtis Fuller (trombone) and Woody Shaw (trumpet). It's a good album
