At 15 years of age, Joe Willie was playing with Rice Miller Sonny Boy II on the King Biscuit Flour Hour in West Helena, AK. The station had one of the strongest signals in the Mid-south. Joe's blazing, fierce single-string attack on his amplified Gibson L5 was one of the most influential sounds in Post-war electric blues. Sadly he never left Memphis and eventually stopped performing, until the early 70's when he resumed playing locally. I saw him many times then - to call him amazing is faint praise. He tore it to pieces. This LP is testament to his talent - the band is terrific and super tight - recorded live in the studio. An added pleasure is that Joe Willie sings here for the first time on LP. His voice has traveled a lifetime. If you can find a copy, pick it up. Doesn't get any realer than this....
