'Play The World' will need no introduction to many; a perfect example of classic NY disco cut-up house using India's vocals to hypnotizing effect, on the super dope Brooklyn 'Henry Street' imprint. For those not yet owning a copy there are 3 more great cuts on here... 'A Summer Fling' is a simple mix tool with a great garage swagger & drone bassline, trademark tom's & a glitzy disco string stab, underpinned by a funk guitar lick. Works a treat. 'Tales Of Jerry Morbid' samples the ambient piano from 10cc's 'I'm not in love' & adds a touch of percussion for a light & melancholic track, devoid of even a whiff of disco & making it the odd one out (but no baddy!) on this 12". My pick for the other hot track on this EP has to be 'Don't Stop'. Not sure where the samples come from, but it's a marriage of a classical guitar riff (something akin to Fleetwood Mac), a slab of newbeat era electro cowbells, a warm 3 chord bassline & a sweet, female vox gently whispering 'Don't Stop'. Its deep as hell, totally captivating & a magical piece of music, making this one of the crowning moments from a consistently amazing label & in house duo Johnny D & Nicky P.
