Essential John Digweed darkness on this double disc. The mixing on this release is outstanding and I want to bring attention to my favorite blend which is disc 2, track 5 "Inner Laugh" into track 6 "The Fall". Digweed rides the blend for 2 minutes or more. He takes you straight into his custom edited version of "The Fall" where the breakdown is significantly extended as compared to the official version released on vinyl. The result is a total mind bending percussive blend of epic proportions.

GU 019 LA was the first time i was exposed to a digweed mix, and (particularly disc1) blew me away with its dark, defiant, even somewhat desolate sound. several years later, and having a far more superior knowledge of house music, i listened to it again...and found i appreciated even more its fluid, intelligent mixing, and dark, dirty edge. they don't make em like this anymore. a darn shame...

I love digweed, but just didnt get that excited about the track selection on these 2 discs.
communicate for me was a far superior set of discs, and will be the one to beat for quite sometime.
there are a few highlights on the set, including satoshi and jimmy van m, but i have heard a lot better all in all.

Perhaps one of Diggers' finest GU performances, LA boasts a fluidity of track selection and technically proficient mixing that is quite off the hook. I would definately rank GU LA as a premier element of the rather phenomenal series.
