My father in law gave me a copy of this and he said that he bought it new and was disappointed because instead of the America record, it had a copy of the christmas album inside. Is this something that happened frequently?

takoma put out america in the 90s on cd and they chopped 2 minutes off mark 1:15 because there was not enough room for the full version and they were too cheap to do a double cd,this is also the version four men with beards used for their vinyl release,so takoma screwed that up too!

2 notes: I have the original 1971 US release of this Lp in my hand, and as I remembered, "Knoxville Blues" FOLLOWS "Mark 1:15" on side two, making it the LAST track on side two, not the first, as listed above. I assume that this mistake carried over to the 1972 UK release, making both listings incorrect. I also understand from some reviews on Amazon, that the new double LP in not complete, as it omits the same 2 minutes from Mark 1:15 as the CD does.

A faithful, licensed version of this LP complete with gatefold and booklet, was issued in autumn of 2009, on the 4 Men With Beards label, catalog number 117.
