I just purchased a copy of what was advertised as this green-colored pressing, but I received a clear copy! Is anyone aware of a clear pressing of this album?

My girlfriend (DJ Mekanika) introduced me to John Maus, and I'm surprised I was in the dark for so long on this incredible artist. I have since voraciously listened to his albums and sort of tried to catch up on his work. I am in awe to see/hear, such an honest take on music in our age of uber-artificial-candy-corporate-music culture. The relevance of synthesizers-- not for commercial marketing or posturing (as is the case for many since the 90s and 2000s etc), but for the way they were intended to be used, as extensions of our heart and minds. This current of thought sort of did die at the end of the 80's for the most part. Maus picks up the torch left in the 80s not becuase of any trend or gimickry but by palpable heart and soul urges, which is why he is a true reincarnation of that sound of early italo disco, punk, goth, new wave, leftfield. I am very surprised and happy, to listen and to see that such an artist can exist in our age.

Here we have John Maus's 3rd effort here. A bit less abstract but still brilliant. The first time I hear this album I played Streetlife for, an hour straight. Its like an amazing continuous chorus through it's entirety. Around 1:40 it takes it to an even higher pinnacle. A soundtrack to a generation as he sings "down in a streetlight". And the rain harks back to his previous sounding album. The production is great and has an excellent charm. Check track 5 that sounds like its played on a tattered old reel to reel analog machine. Very warm bass with a fuzzy static over it like a worn tape head with incredible depth even though sounding hollow. Impressive technique while breaking out to an excellent chorus. A few tracks sound similar to last album but overall, another great album. This one is a bit more italo-disco 80's sounding then his previous more slight punk abstract sound. Check the ultra futuristic retro feel ad catchiness of "head for the country". It is a bit short on length and plays like an extended ep almost. For an overall opinion on him as an artist; I don't think I can remember an artist like John Maus where I cannot pin down his sound and categorize him. A true abstract artist.

I had to write this review, so I could rank this disc 5/5!!
This is really an amazing release. He reminds me of Jurrasic Parc; you should think you found something almost extinct, but this one is brand new fresh dino(-sound) :-)
