Since it claims the 2015's copyright I guess they've used the same cut from 2007 remasters they made for 2015 black vinyl, then 2017 white vinyl edition and now the clear edition, all of them pressed at Optimal. So if you get any of them I guess you'll have a similar experience. To me ears it sounds really good. specially drum & bass. So if you don't own the 2015 or 2017 editions this is a good choice. My only complain is that a I had to return my first copy because it had a serious skipping scratch on side B, and now the second copy came with some noise on side A (that I didn't hear in my first) so I guess it needs cleaning. I've always respect Optimal as one of the best pressing plants, but it looks like s..t happens in Optimal too! Good luck!

bought today, easily the best sounding record I own, wouldn't be able to hear any background/surfacenoise if I tried.

Is this still the same mastering as previous reissues or is it different?

Hey together.
Today I received my "Closer" copy but I can't find any numbers concerning the limited issue.
Perhaps I should check my glasses but can anybody help me, please.
Thanks very much and greetings.
Michael

I'll leave a review when the copy is washed and I have the leisure to listen to it ;-)

I foolishly bought the 2015 reissue, which I think is mastered from CD. This reissue is a definite improvement. Excellent sounding pressing.

I have a '89 promo copy and while comparing the sound, I found the biggest difference to be the bass. The bass on this pressing is deeper and lower than my '89 pressing. The snare on the new pressing has more reverb, while the original has brighter tone and is more "in your face". Overall, I prefer this pressing much more. The increased bass really makes tracks like Passover standout more.

My copy sounds great. Side 1 is just a little off-center, but frankly that's not a problem with this band's music. They already have a pretty wavy, pitch-bendy sound. No other issues with my pressing.

Do not listen to the folks who say this record skips. They're playing it on a Crosley or an LP60, not a serious turntable. Any record could skip on those junk Urban Outfitters players.

Interestingly, of the four "official" early Joy Division releases (I'm counting Unknown Pleasures, Closer, Still, Substance), I find this one to be the weakest. Of course I'm speaking in relative terms. It's very good, but I prefer the freshness of Unknown Pleasures, the rocking tracks on Still, or the interesting tidbits on Substance. Glad to have it, but I'll probably spin the others before I spin this one again. At times it's a bit heavy, and I wonder where their music would have gone had Curtis survived-- perhaps the even darker places that The Cure went are a clue.

Absolute pure quality - a dynamic and clean pressing that does this gem justice. Highly recommended.
