FACT 25 comes in two vinyl editions: Black and translucent dark red. It can only be differentiated when holding against a strong light source.
Apparantly, this is due to Martin Hannett, who ordered a second master cut after he found out that 5000 records were pressed without the initial master having been approved.

There also are two sleeve variations:
A thick and rough cardboard sleeve with rough inner sleeve and having rounded corners (this) or a plain carton sleeve with glossy inner sleeve and having straight corners. However, the two vinyl editions can come in either sleeve.

A very good album! In my opinion this is as good as "Unknown Pleasures" but in a different and icy way. This is dark and powerful stuff, deeply atmospheric and a unique album, brilliant!

I have the italian pressing on recycled and wobbely vinyl and it sounds just awful. But better than a CD- version i once had in the mid of the 80ties

I remember having several copies of Closer at the time it was released and it was a bit of a hotch potch in that the only thing I can say with any certainty was that the 1st issues came in the old rough/matt type sleeves-both outer and inner sleeve. And some had cut corners on the inner sleeve and some hadn't-I can tell that by 2 I kept-given when released but with that variation between the 2.Matrix is the same A1B1.Well even Joy Division is 30 years plus ago now and I can remember them as little boys basically!

The thing about the translucent vinyl was I think simply the fact that it was pressed at a time when the pressing plant ended up with this effect more by chance than anything else. This was at a time when colour vinyl/picture disc pressings were the new 'in vogue' thing and it was probably basically to do with that-I had several pressings like this at the time.I can remember Yes-Going For The One and National Health-1st LP, I think, amongst others and there were more. As people have said unless you knew about this you may have had an album for many years without knowing!

I have Blue Monday (Fac73) on 12" vinyl. The label on the b-side says 'The Beach', yet there are 4 tracks on there, which after some investigation, turns out to be the 4 tracks off the b-side of Joy Division's Closer. Does anyone else have this?
