On his last appearance on his home label Kompakt, Hiroshi Watanabe greets us with interpretations of the lead tracks from his Trust album.

The experience kicks-off with a deep venture into the realm of Echospace, where organic intricacies and cold, harsh hiss swirl surround a driving, pulsating beat. Concurrently, it's one of my favorite remixes by the Detroit/Chicago crew.

The versions on B side showcase the beauty that is hidden behind the beat, painting an ambient panorama on a subtle sonic canvas. Particulary gorgeous is the beatless version of "And that was the way", a melancholic suite based on a stunning piano lead and faint guitar smudges in the back.

The arrangement of the entire record with beatless versions on one side and the remix with the beat on the other side was a great decission and it works flawlessly.

All in all this is a sublime musical experience.
