probably the best vinyl pressing I have ever listened to. crystal clear sound, no hissings or cracks, the quiet parts sound unbelievable! Thank you Mr Kamasi for that masterpiece!

I'll add my comments to those others who have clean, flat, and excellent-sounding vinyl copies. Delighted with the content and quality of this amazing jazz record. Jazz is neither dead, nor smells funny any more, Mr. Zappa...you'd be delighted too!

I have this on CD and held off getting the vinyl box because of quality concerns but recently found a sealed copy here for cheap. I was pleasantly surprised that my copy is flat and quiet. Sure, I’d love to have a version that’s 45 rpm over 6 Records, but it sounds pretty good even given the 30 minutes per side.

Superb music, this gets better with each successive listen! I've got the CD release and it has no problems at all, the vinyl seems to have multiple issues according to many reviews.
I frankly can't be bothered with vinyl these days as there are just so many quality issues - just like there always was in the 1970's - 1980's - so no change there! I had a brief dalliance with vinyl again in 2006 - 2009 but there were so many crappy re-issues that I found myself listening for problems with the records rather than listening to the music itself undistracted.

I’ve heard the future of Jazz and his name is Kamasi Washington. One triple album and a mini album so far. Warm, Soulful, Diverse, Complex, Melodic! I’m impressed!

Having audition many times before the digital version, I opened today my brand new triple vinyl pack and sat to listen to this music masterpiece.. I did the audition in my 'big' audiophile system in my dedicated room.. This was a terrible experience, all 3 records have much surface noise audible clearly especially in the quite passages of the end of each track.. There was a cycled periodic noise on both channels and more on the right channel, reminding me a poorly maintained old reel to reel tape machine.. If this noise really comes from a tape machine I wonder why many other friends here says that their copy is clear!! Perhaps they haven't listen to the album in higher levels..

Disregarding the noise, there was another big issue in this vinyl production.. All the music is disproportionately differential in the dynamic field make the audition hardly to be made in a relatively stable loud level, like a dynamics possessor (compressing & expanding) have been used wrongly in extreme settings.. I can recognize this is a difficult recording work, too many instruments have been used, double drums, strings section, noisy percussions and synthies, also many voices, but also this is a challenge for a good sound engineer to highlight a brilliant music work like 'The Epic'.. but such a good thing definitely haven't happened..

This is one of the very few times that a digital file sounds better from the vinyl edition, it is a terribly bad work made for that vinyl press.. And this is a pity because the music included is really a masterpiece, one of the best sophisticated music parts of the modern jazz era coming out from a talented young man, mr Kamasi Washington.. to whom I have a good advice, it wound't be a bad idea to search for a new engineer and a new vinyl producing company..

If you're on the fence about buying the LP because of record quality issues, I wouldn't be. My copy has surface noise. Normally this kinda thing on a new LP would drive me nuts and I'd take the hit; sell it right back to the record store for store credit.

None of that matters; this record is too good to not own and not play over and over and over. It's a modern day masterpiece, bottom line, end of story. You will not regret this purchase. It is required ownership for soul/jazz/funk lovers of all inclinations.

I think I got lucky with my copy. The whole album sounds incredible on wax. High quality pressing and a high quality album!

Saw all the reviews complaining about quality, but I guess I lucked out as well. Got a copy from my local record store yesterday and it sounds great. No surface noise or defects.

I must have gotten lucky with my copy. Not a single scratch and the there is little to no surface noise.
