Written from a huge fan of Kraftwerk and Karl - I love any output from both artists so it's great to see Karl's still releasing music.
So..his first single in years and does it please? Mostly. At a glance, there doesn't seem to be a huge lot to it, though what IS there is lush instrumentation, deep vocoders and Kraftwerk style melodies and structure. Karl was of course a huge part of Kraftwerk and it does show here; there being much more depth to the music than is initially clear from one listen. Heard in the context of the rest of the album the track makes so much more sense, but it's a nice tune alone.

Arguably though, there are stronger tracks on the rest of the album - Music Ex Machina, Rhythmus, Hausmusik and Without a Trace of Emotion to name a few; this to me makes 'Atomium' sound like a slightly odd choice for a single when there are bangers like Music Ex Machine and Rhythmus sitting on his album.

It's nice to see that this 7'' contains a German version too - absent from the full album. Nice artwork.

It's one of the worst tracks of the genre. Karl Bartos couldn't take a song like Expo 2000 seriously but were made a bloody weak and mindless track instead. There's no a single element I can enjoy. The speech-synth is tastelessly overused, the melody is Kraftwerkish but lacks of any orgiginality. Terrible bad soundquality (on the CD version). Strictly for collectors only!
