GOODGROOVECIRCLE

Two things, firstly, Jarrett does not play on this, he wrote the music. It is played by the Südfunk Symphony Orchestra and Jan Garbarek improvises over it on saxophone. It's not by any means 'jazz' but Jarrett is allowed the freedom simply because ECM see true artistic potential in him. One can't help get distracted or wonder where the music is going at times so it's not really a compelling album at all.

This wasn't a bad release but I also wasn't to impressed. What we have is creations by Keith Jarrett played by the Sax of Jan Garbarek and the Südfunk Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart. It's a good combo but I find the Sax is either getting in the way of the Strings or visa-versa. I the second track "Windsong" is probably the best on here. It moves well and keeps your attention better than the other two longer ones. I like Orchestra mixed with Jazz a lot, which is why I checked this disc out, but to me I think if Keith played the Sax or piano in this it would have been better. The release is kind of a ambient jazz mix as well. Good, but not exciting.
