The darkness of "Sequential," which kicks off Kiko's album MIDNIGHT MAGIC, quickly gives way to what you've been waiting for: some slamming club-oriented house, more often on a disco tip. "Monique" has some wobbly 80s synth in service of a dense track, while "Italomatic" starts off the disco vibes. "Electricity" manages to get things pumping, even if it does get repetitive; the vocoder on "Running in the City" gives it some urgency; "Just Blue" has some high tones that add some brightness; and "Last Emotion" sounds as if it's the lost theme to Knight Rider. While I can see most of these working on the dancefloor, they're rather repetitive and lack sufficient variation for home listening. Still, if all you want is to groove, there's no reason why this wouldn't get the job done.
