Stunning first record, the kind that is impossible to stop listening when you get it. Many people have compared the singing with Amy Winehouse, but it's quite obvious that the singer has a very different, maybe broader, but also more fragile, range of styles (— in the bonus tracks of the CD, the cover of I say a Little Prayer for You, while probably not perfect, hints at many possible avenues for the future). Much of the attention goes to the singer, Kimberly Kitson Mills (French with British and Ghanaian roots), and for good reasons, as she really takes some of the ballads to superb levels — but I am just as impressed by the band, the composer (Anthony Hadjadj), and superb production (Fred Jaillard, not a newcomer in the french music scene). Anyway, a really cool record to enjoy, for what it is: a simple, unpretentious, but really successful first record.
