Does anyone else's Sugarhigh jump towards the breakdown? My friend and I both bought a copy of this record (in fact, my friend bought 2 for reasons that will become obvious) - on each copy the needle jumps on the record in the same places. We tried different needles, but no joy. Now usually when you get a bad pressing, the trick is to pass the vinyl very slow under the needle, applying some weight, and the grooves will gracefully wear in. This one was stubborn! I thought it was more hassle than it was worth to try and return the vinyl back the mail-order shop so I got evil on its ass ;-) Taking one clean magnifying glass, a strong light source, a sharp scalpel and a steady hand, I forced those problem grooves apart like they were playdough! I was prepared for it to go horribly wrong, but it actually worked - no kidding! Seriously, for the sake of a couple of barely noticeable crackles (that would appear over time anyway) I thought it was well worth it - you CD jocks out there may chuckle among yourselves, but this brings new dimensions of pleasure to the trusty hands-on medium!
