'Crunchy Bear' is a solid offering from the Toko deep house crew. It has some old school sounding house beats with clinging congas, wobbly tech house synths, african vocal snippets, deep sub-bass. Then adding to the deep house feeling we have some sax licks and rhodes chords. Midway we have the track going into a breakbeat section, with all the instruments playing nicely together. But after the break the track goes kinda dull and fades out without much action going on. Overall, the track has a nice 'Freerange' deep tech house sound, but predates the current deep house sounds well over a decade.

Depends what you're in to of course, but I think this is a great record. Side A's got a real summer house party feel, and side B's a bit more techy and movin'. If you're from Cork and went to Henry's not long after Radio Friendly went on air, then you'll recognise the vibe straight away. Now that I think about it, it's got a real Galactic Disco sound to it. Beautiful!

i took a punt on this based on the b side of Gumbo being so good -- not worth it. boths tracks are questionable at best.
