One of the stand-out quote unquote "deep house" releases of 2018 and in my opinion it ranks as one of Kyle Hall's best ever releases. For me his past records have all had excellent individual cuts, but nothing as fully fledged and well-packaged as 'Equanimity'. The sheer musicality, sound, unique drum programming and playfulness is simply top notch.

Every track is a mover from the "just-close-your-eyes-and-dance" inducing 'Katastematic Pleasure', the raw, stripped teasing groove of '4wrd Motion', the simplistic, emotional beatdown of 'Ghosten 4 A 2nd X' and - perhaps my favourite - the broken beat inspired 'No More Moon', that I can only critique for being too freaking short.

To top it off it's all mixed and engineered by the legendary Glenn Underground??? It's rare to hear newer house records, apart from the likes of Ron Trent and Louie Vega, where the wax sounds this crystal clear and spacious! The 20$ price tag is higher than the current standard of 10-15$ for a fresh 12" of-course, but I'd happily empty my pockets for a dope sounding record knowing the production costs of high quality products. And it might even leave a smidge of money left for the artist, which i'd pay extra for any day, if that means we can get more goodness from people like Kyle Hall - 'cause we need it!

Cool record, but I don't understand why the price is so high. Not worth the asking price of ~$20 USD.

New and fresh but distinctively and unmistakably Kyle Hall .
