Larry heard goes even deeper than his first 2 solo releases. Faint Object Detection is almost an ode to Tangerine Dream. I think this cd is the most ambient and other worldly of his solo albums. Which isn't a surprise seeing as the title is Aliens. The keyboards are about as drawn out and futuristic lushness that Larry has done. The beats take a backseat to these melodies. The Dance of Planet X is epic and and very enjoyable. Alien plays with themes more than other albums. I'm sure it being his most sci-fi that makes perfect sense. Tracks 5 into 6 really drift you off into a spacey haze. Unfortunately like most Heard solo albums there is always a track or two that is significantly sounding louder volume wise than the others hurting the genius label the music he does has. Thats just a sidenote. It would be interesting to hear what music Larry was inspired with to emulate with his special touch to turn out his 1993-1996 music. I would have to assume trips to Europe and British Detroit inspired music. This almost seems like a return the favor to Europe after those who were originally moved first by Larry. Whatever the case this is a beauty.
