"CD is mastered from original master tapes" ... this does not help with this mastering result. Aggressiv & Lost Dynamic ("Remastered").

Why are you doing that with all the nice classics? Nobody wants that!

Whereas the original album really seems to be remastered from the mastertapes, the bonus tracks obviously are NOT as in so many re-issues today. The 12inch Mix of "Selfcontrol" seems to be transferred from a slighty warped vinyl as the BPM and the pitch fluctuate at times (might also be a problem with tape speed but the original album version sounds fine). The 12inch version of "Satisfaction" definitely is transferred from vinyl. Compare the album version and the 12inch version, especially the snare drum and the vocals, these sound badly muffled and distorted. This is once again a let-down for buyers.

Collectors looking to buy directly from this label be very very cautious. I ordered 2 discs and for 4 months saw absolutely nothing. I am not the only customer experiencing this. At the end I made a complaint to my credit card and obtained a refund. At first they answered my email and kept saying they will check on the dispatch but after several times they stopped answering altogether. It wasn't as if they sent the cds and I did not get them. I think the truth is they do not have the cds there they claim they have in stock. There is a facebook page suggesting the label is a scam, and I absolutely do not think otherwise. This is not a malicious review and anyone has questions can look up.

I do not agree ... all track are from master tape. What is sure is they used a denoiser because lot of noise on the tape but no vinyl. If you listen carefully the vinyl 12" of Lucky one and the Robie mix you will discover that the sound is not excellent

Gold Legion has picked up a number of titles for reissue with bonus tracks. It has been problematic unfortunately, with multiple release dates being published and extensive delays. Of note however, is the label's publicized commitment to using only master tapes (this is stated on their website). This release sounds great until the bonus tracks. "The Lucky One (John Robie Mix)" has never previously been issued on CD but is very clearly taken from a vinyl source 12", and from a very poor copy at that. "The Lucky One (Jack White Mix)" has been released on CD before and is available on Blanco y Negro's "I Love Disco 80's" at . "Satisfaction Dance Remix" was issued on a Polish compilation and on this release. It sounds to be from a master. "Self Control" has been released prior to this and is definitely from a master. The bottom line is that if you (like I) are getting this for the "first time on CD" Robie mix of "The Lucky One", don't bother. It sounds really bad and you will be disappointed.

And I communicated with Gold Legion about the failure to use master tapes on the John Robie Mix, so it is not attributed to the original source being poor nor the use of a "denoiser". It is an overdue release that fails to live up to standards, in my opinion. I have a 12" that sounds much better.
