Got the blk version in 2000ISH, and had to get the red vinyl version in 2009 because I played the other copy so much. Legowelt through the years has become a type of underground synth hero, being respectful (and knowledgable) of what has come before, yet pushing boundaries. His musical intelligensia has served him very well indeed; Jackin house chicago-style, Kraftwerkish robotism, slammin detroit techno bass, Giallo soundtrackshishness, Italo Esprezatura, and griity nerdy analog northern European electro ALL merge style-wise into a very unique and refreshing electronic identitity.
I witnessed him play a live analog set in LA at an event where I happened to be also djing an italo/ hi-nrg vinyl set; and to see him play his synths live is a treat in itself. This record to me remains one of the coolest from his repertoire ( and from Bunker discography label as well). Wild dark lyrics always enhance tracks ( when done right! which they are here!) "Total Pussy Control" has some of the illest vocals I ve ever heard pressed on wax, where his voice becomes almost animal-like in a very effective manner. Samples (as in the track "Strange Girl") , melodies, basslines, and beats ALL just fit together eloquently in every track here. As a listener, you can imagine this being played in some castle in Europe for some gothic secret dance party in 1992, or in a colorful Detroit Jit dance-off party in 1989 - which is sorta the story that is hinted at in the original insert that came with the vinyl-making this in short, an awesome lp.
