"Lilies on Mars is the project of Lisa Masia and Marina Cristofalo. Known as the collaborators of the experimental Italian icon Franco Battiato who wanted the girls appearing on his album Il Vuoto, his last movie "Niente e’ come sembra" and on his tour around Europe 2007/2008. They met David Lynch in 2007, creating a special tribute show following his conference in Palermo. In June 2008 they performed at the Heineken Jammin’ Festival in Venice in front of seventy thousand people. After these experiences Lisa and Marina formed “Lilies on Mars” with the intention to continue their research expressing themselves through new sounds. Between Hackney and Shoreditch, London, where they have been living for the past eight years, in two months they composed, arranged, produced and mixed their first album which has been mastered by Bill Gautier (The Cure, Paul McCartney, Fleet Foxes), and started the collaboration and the fusion with Elsewhere Factory, an independent art collective which supported the project from the very beginning. The two girls debuted live at La Cigale Theatre in Paris with Franco Battiato and continued touring on their own in UK, Italy, Germany and USA for the whole 2009/beginning 2010 catching the attention of Steve Ager well known PR whom signed them for his Publishing label Chachaman. They also were one of the 20 finalists of Rockstar09 (Glastonbury festival unsigned competition) selected amongst more then 400 British bands. Following collaborations with various musicians Lisa and Marina welcomed Matthew Parker (ex Sunny Day sets fire ) to join them on the drums becoming officially a three piece band. In June, together they recorded the second LOM album at TDR Studios in Pistoia Italy, with the support of the independent label Musical Brain and also collaborated in one track with Dan Brantigan (Kaki King) on EVI. Lom won the Roma Europa Webfactory contest, personally selected by the experimentalist composer Christian Fennesz, after a remix of his unpublished song “the seventh string” and they will perform together at the Palladium in Rome the 17th of October 2010. In September 2010 LOM will be the opening act for Carmen Consoli.
