Stunningly beautiful. If you are reconciled to a broken heart then this record could become your best friend. It's one of those LPs where your favourite track is whatever track you're listening to right now. The addition of more instruments as the album progresses turns a contemporary folk feel into something more rock n roll. But, being English, it's as much pre-Raphaelite as psychedelic. If Christina Rossetti had been issued with an electric guitar she might have come up with the intro to "So Lonely" which happens to be the perfect hymn to London Town in its hopeful weariness. It's not easy to produce such a beautiful rant. The star of the show is Ms Auerbach, though. Her detached vocal style allows the words to tell their own story. Why aren't these songs being sung today?
