Luke Slater released a mind-boggling amount of great music in the first half of the 90's, which established him as one of the world's leading techno producers. This record is a bit of a dud, however. On the A side, he tries his hand at house music - an interesting prospect in theory, considering his proven ability to turn his hand to many different styles with skill and panache. But the tracks sound awkward and dated, and you wouldn't want to be caught playing them. "D-Circuit" and "Stomp", on the other hand, are average techno tracks which were as dull in 1992 as they are now. Fortunately, long-time production partner Alan Sage comes in to save the day on "Degrees Of Thinking", a melodic techno track which should satisfy those who like the 7th Plain material or the calmer Clementine moments, and makes this EP a justifiable purchase for other than Slater completists. Pick it up if you find it cheap.
