Although the Martini Bros.' album PLAY starts off with the long “Boy/Girl,” it’s not until the country/downtempo track “Ultrastar” that they really start to show some promise. There’s also the tongue-in-cheek “The Biggest Fan” to bring a smile to your glam-dancing face (though I’m not sure the coda is necessary). Though they know how to get their glam-groove on (like on the robotic blip-funk of “L.O.V.E. (A Really Strong Emotion),” the slower tracks like “Audiopark 2002” or “Flowers of July” demonstrate more range. Not too shabby.
