Dirty, deadly, exciting and possibly frustrating underground dance-music EP based on a super-fresh take on ghetto and electro atmospheres.
The beats and textures are sharp, raw, dark and altogether superbly organic and lively, and the apparent nonchalant and 'indie' production and structure result in a feel closer to alternative/industrial or punk music than 'proper' dance music. Ie, emphasis on breaks, voluntary imperfections, accidents and unstability and not so much on proper 'drive' imo, making this one highly noticeable, yet harder (but not impossible) to immerse to and transcend like more 'classic' dance tracks would more easily do (not mentionning the short lenghth of most of the tracks ; another signal of a punk aesthetic).
One for experienced jocks with a leftfield mind then ; for example i would perfectly picture Weatherall work this to death...
In the end of the day, this EP sounds like the freestyle twisted universe L.I.E.S have been trying to reach for the past 2 years without entirely succeeding so far imo ; perhaps somehow due to their paradoxically too 'formulaic' approach.
