A cracking release from Dick "Magik J" johnson here, with three blistering slaps of acid / tech with varying degrees of dirtiness.

Both A side tracks are good solid techy tracks, with the tempo progressing up from A1 to A2, as well as the familiar squelches of a 909 which come into play about half way through A2.

However nothing prepares you for the flipside, as "Come On Girl" left me almost speechless. One of the most complex tracks (along with Paul Woolford's recent "Jack Factory") I've heard in ages, it starts off pretty simply, but about every 16 bars or so another layer is added until the whole thing is bubbling along at a ferocious pace. An absolutely sick bassline is the engine behind this and as the 909s start kicking in (subdued at first and just in the back of the mix) about half way through, things start going totally pear-shaped (in a good way!!). The break gives you a short while to catch your breath before unleashing an aural shitstorm.

This guy has been around for a while but his recent stuff (since Cardboard Journey) has been at the pinnacle of edgy tech house in my opinion. The move to New Zealand must have spiced up the creative juices!!!

Needless to say that in my opinion this release is highly recommended!!
