Admittedly, it wasn't a previous screening that lured me into picking up "Magnog's" debut LP. On the contrary I had never heard of them until that very moment I saw it in the cd bin. With a cover that looked "spacey" and a font that smacked of Macintosh's default font - geneva; I soon found myself holding it in my hands and reading the song titles on the back.

This trio from Edmonds, Washington (I understand they are all "very young") play space rock that leans nicely on the ambient side of things. Lots of delay and moog musing, "Lost Landing" has to be my favorite because of it's brush with the acoustic guitar holding you to the ground while the sound drifts among the stars. "A Moments Seam" is equally as spiritual all loopy and shifting shape. Not unlike label mate's "Labradford" in that their canvas stretches far and wide.

It wasn't until I got back from an extended vacation in the Sierra's that I realized what the cover art was. A photograph of the stars with a lone tree top pointing the way to the hole in the clouds where a galaxy can be seen displaying its points of light....
