Notes

Side A recorded at Max's and Kris' houses in June of 1996. Side B recorded at Max's house in May & June of 1996.

Due to an equipment misconfiguration during mixing, the Auburn Lull songs actually appear much slower (and therefore in a lower key) than they were recorded.

Half of the copies were pressed on transparent orange, the other half on black vinyl.

"Astor Heaven" - the first song on the Auburn Lull side - contains a treated guitar sound so beautiful, so distinct, like painted movement, like real waves - and as the song progresses, the guitar grows more beautiful, like washing, and the waves are like exhales. A real shoegaze masterwork here, especially the Auburn Lull side (Mahogany is also great, and made better records later) - which can be played again and again. A tremendous group, Auburn Lull - an outstanding debut - still today sounding only like itself. Three songs as rich and satisfying as an entire album. In addition, the orange vinyl is splendid - looks fine spinning when you play it loud. The black is fine, too. Both highly collectible.
