Beautiful sounding pressing, one of the best sounding records in my collection. Like others have said, disappointed that Nobody Loved You was replaced, it let's the overall package down when a band does this.
They did the same thing with Underdogs on Send Away The Tigers, absolutely pointless, surely they know completists like albums left as they are, I mean if putting a different track on an album means that much to a band, they could've added it as a bonus track.

Just here for my 2 cents on the SQ which on my pressing at least is nothing short of outstanding. In fact I'm putting it on now, cheers.

Removing "nobody loved you" in favor of "prologue to history" is a disgraceful act of revisionism. I stick to the MOV reissue from 2011.

Regarding the plastic sleeve, my copies of all in this reissue series, apart from EMG and THB, open at the top with an excess flap hanging down, and, from I've been told, do not have the standard Japanese mini LP wallet. EMG and THB open at the side with the seal towards the end of the flap.
Does anyone own a copy of this with the more standard plastic sleeve, opening at the side, with the seal close to the edge of he flap? Or does yours also open at the top?

After waiting ages for an anniversary reissue I was actually pretty disappointed in this release. Although the photos are nice it looks more like a glorified coffee table book, and that's not even starting on the contents. If you're looking for looking forward to listening to the band's most celebrated album then prepare for a shock, as it doesn't even share the same tracklist. 'Nobody Loved You' has been replaced on the first disc for a "fan favourite" b-side, and the only version available to listen to on this set is a very poor demo on the 2nd CD. Also, lets talk about the 2nd CD. What could have been a blinding live set is instead a hodge podge of demos with varying quality, so much so that it doesn't make for comfortable listening.
The only respite is the 3rd disc, which is filled with remixes and b-sides, but is it really worth the hassle when most fans will have gotten all of them via the singles anyway?
If you're looking for a great representation of this album you will sadly have to look elsewhere.

Bought this without checking for feedback on the pressing and I got lucky. Sounds absolutely sublime! Very very happy as this album introduced me to the band and it's the one I'm most familiar with.

I don't usually like it when reviews on here get hopelessly carried away moaning about one specific, trivial observation as though it were the most significant thing that had ever happened in the history of recorded music. But hear me out. I'm a bit bemused that, just like Send Away the Tigers and those peculiar Morrissey reissues, this isn't actually a remaster of the original album but a revisionist new version with an altered tracklisting and zero acknowledgement of the fact. Whatever you think of Prologue to History (personally I can take or leave it), it's *not on* This Is My Truth any more than it's on The Holy Bible. And Nobody Loved You fits perfectly in its original place. Of course it's the Manics' work to do with as they please, but it's misleading to suggest this version (as they do in the promo materials on the website, on the sticker etc) is the original album 'cause it's just not!

Really disappointed with this release. It has surface noise all over sides C and D, and the whole thing sounds muffled. I don't own the MOV reissue but I guess that's the way to go.

December 6, 2020Diese Platte braucht Zeit, viel Zeit.
