Very happy I stumbled accross this album. And this label in the past 2 years. This is a good reflection of where the label is. The 12"s are a bit more for the laid back dance floor and the full lengths are for the summer days, lounge chairs and beach. This one is particularly nice. Definitely a happy and tranquil album. All of what cafe Del Mar and Balearic sounds were aiming for in 1992-1996. Unfortunately trance took them over and they became anthems. But at the heart of Cafe Del Mar esque sounds are this. Acoustic guitars, birds chirping, beautiful synths, gentle pace and a hodgepodge of serene music to take your worries away. And compliment the scenery. This album does that. Essence for example. Think of John Beltran without techno. Or a Jose Padilla. Sacred islands is my favorite track. Simple but sublime. Wonderful. This is about as close to a perfect album in this mood as you can get. There is even an italo Mediterranean feel to the album as well. Solid A grade for this work.
