I was a regular listener to HR3 Clubnight around the time this mix CD was released, and the main thing I learned about Mark Spoon was this: He knew how to select banging tracks and make dry jokes between them, but he sure couldn't beatmatch.
Sadly, this fact is reflected on this CD too. On a live radio show or at a rave one can look over bad mixing if the DJ plays the right tunes, but on the format of a mix CD, which is meant for repeated, concentrated listening, it just ruins the whole listening experience.
So what we get here is an eclectic selection of some great, some good and some average tracks. The German electro revival of 1995ff. is featured most prominently here, and there's also some techno and trance, including gems such as "Agharta", "Odyssey To Anyoona" and Stacey Pullen's "Sweat". An unmixed compilation would have been way better, but if you're a fan, buy it anyway, if only for the fact that it's the only official mix album Mark Spoon ever released.

A good mix from the DJ Mark Spoon - R.I.P.
Many music-styles in it from Trance over Electro & House to Techno. The release includes the great Fünf Sterne Deluxe track 'Dein Herz schlägt schneller' DeeJay Punk-Roc Remix which is known from the second half of the video in which Neger-Kalle from Hamburg cruises with the guys in his 126series SEL.
The first track on CD2 is Stella, the Frank De Wulf Remix released 92 on R&S UK. It is not known why De Wulf isn't named in the trackinfo.
Electro Volt, produced by Space Frog is a great dark electro acid breakstomper with a bit of a trance feeling. Audiowerk is a straight techno track, DJ Hell produced a Hell-typical track using a famous Resistance D sound fighting against the hook of the track. The both tracks of Miss Kittin and The Hacker fit very well and Löffel added a nice Stella-Remix (Return of Stella '99) with broken beats.
All over a more commercial release but not so disturbing like many other Mix-compilations of an era where the fresh energy of techno was over; Mark Spoon knew how to use Underground with Overground in most of his music, check the LP tripomatic Fairy Tales - you can find various energetic music although we all know the hits from the charts(sometimes with two steps over the border of good taste because too nice & catchy melodies or singing/vocals).
