A truly excellent album from a soul legend. Songs co-written and produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco-- but this is Mavis's record all the way. This album is totally in the here and now both socially and politically, yet it feels like it could have been made in the early 1970's. Soul, R&B, psych-folk, and rock merge in a stunning collection of songs. Yeah, it's political... it's always has been... Mavis Staples is a force of nature. This music was made to spin on vinyl-- mastering and production are fantastic. The vinyle is clean and quiet-- a superb pressing. Not one dud on this album. Highly recommended!
