The deluxe box set edition went up for preorder today. Ordered it right away! " Justice " 2Xlp, a triple live lp, " One " 10 inch picture disc, 11 cds, 4 DVDs, 4 patches, folder with lyrics, laminate press, Shortest straw lithograph and a hardcover book. No " Justice " for Jayson tho.

This album is so praised by Metallica fans, but although the songs are good, the mixing of this album is totally crap. Lars Ulrich should have been fired after this album, then maybe St Anger could have been great..

Questionable mixing and production put aside, this is a very good copy of the recording on vinyl. Comes through clean and powerful. Having never heard any other vinyl pressings I can say I'm happy to own this one.

Can anyone tell me what the raised letter A on all the labels is an indication of?

HELLO, NEVER MIND I FOUND THE COPY I HAVE. IT'S A TEST PRESSING. THE ONLY LETTER THAT IS CLEARLY VISIBLE IS THE LETTER "A".

I played the 1988 Elektra back to back against the 2014 Blackened. No comparison , the 1988 is amazing the 2014 Blackened is disappointing to say the least. The 1988 is full and loud, whereas the 2014 is quiet with no punch and thuddy bass.
Almost as disappointing as my Warner Bros. 2008 Ride The Lightning. They should recall all of these recent pressings and get it right.

A guitarist masterpiece, Almost like a new band. Utterly overproduced and nearly completely devoid of Metallica's calling card to fame. The drums are absurdly over produced, to the point of hitting a paper cup with a popsicle stick,, Newstead's bass is mixed out and Hammet's solos sound like they've been created with the help of a pitch-shifter. Ushered in the Bob Rock destruction of the band thanks to one entirely delusional member (who's attitude is toxic and ability is dispensable). Remains an incredible musical release and the fulcrum of the band's old skool and nu-skool followers. As an unapologetic old skool fan, I can still readily admit this album has a few songs that are the best they're ever done or will ever do. Certainly not worth the apparent vinyl revival however. It is what is it.

Has anyone seen or owned a pic disc version of this? It was a coloured picture disc with Lady Justice (Doris!) on the cd face. The cd included The Prince, Breadfan and a shorter version of Harvester Of Sorrow (5:20?). No lyrics were included and I think it was an unofficial reissue, but am not sure about the label. Could have been Vertigo. Will post a link if I find the mentioned cd info. Thanks.
