I think this pressing sounds great. I haven't compared it to a US original or a Japanese original but this version sounds very punchy and crankable. I don't feel the need to seek out any other copy unless I get a real steal. Can't go wrong with this version. One of the jewels of my metal collection for sure.

Disapointed by the sound of this record. Low output and dull dynamics. Maybe I got an early morning pressing?

Anyone know how "limited" the edition was as to numbers?

The first U.K. press plays far better for some reason.

Wow, this sounds really great. Clean and powerful. Very nice package together with the Gatefold and the poster.

The biggest headroom sound on this version after comparing it with all US originals (including Columbia House pressing with big pauses between tracks) , Roadrunner and Japanese original.
A bit warmer than US DMM but absolutely fantastic in terms of holografic impact.

Some copies of this were released in a stickered shrink-wrapped cover and others had no shrink-wrap and had the sticker on the cover which is why some copies turn up with no sticker nor any sign of there having been a sticker (sometimes the stickers are removed from the LP cover which often takes the thin laminate off.
The same applies to the other limited 2 x 12".
There are also 2 versions of the sleeve-one with a glossy gatefold inside and out and the other with the gloss only on the outside. As MFN were desperate to sell as many copies as possible before the band left for Vertigo it may be that they farmed out the covers to 2 different printers in order to get the product back quickly and sold on.
Metallica were their cash cow remember!
They were selling these limited 2 x 12" (for all 3 titles) and also the picture discs right up to the deadline (when Vertigo took over) and even phoned up retailers offering the product right up to the last minute !

Probably the best Pressing/Version of this album. If you can, purchase this record.
