Yes, this is a great sounding version. So much power behind the drums and you could clearly hear the bass + guitars, vocals are prestine.

This album sounds great! such an energetic and powerful bass, the sound alone is worth the money, I have not heard the other versions, but if you have the opportunity to buy this version, then do it, you will not regret it.

This pressing is INCREDIBLE sounding. But a major reason why this album sounds so good is of course the pressing, but Bob Rock (love him or hate him) produced the S**T out of this album and Randy Staub put on a clinic as to how you should engineer an album.

This record makes me want bigger speakers. Most of the time I feel like my Mackie MR824s can handle anything I throw at them, but I feel like they are missing a deeper bottom end that this record is trying to deliver. My only complaint: the packaging is very... economical. An embossed cover would have been nice because the dark graphics on pure black is a little too Spinal Tap "none more black". And the inner sleeves are as cheap as it gets--plan on replacing them with poly-lined or MOFi.

Bought this from Acoustic Sounds. Just to be clear if anyone is wondering, this is their description:
"150-gram 2 LP reissue on Metallica's own Blackened Recordings label, Half-speed mastered from original analog tapes at Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs for the ultimate listening experience"
Works for me, all I need is this pressing!

I have this and the Blackened pressing of ...And Justice For All. That one sounds like you're listening to it through cell phone speakers and was a waste of money. This release, however, sounds fantastic, and I don't have any trouble recommending it! It's not nearly as quiet as Justice, so you don't have to turn it up so loud you can hear every molecule in the groove; there's actually bass (which, I know that's just how Justice was mixed, but it sounds even more tinny than usual on that pressing); and everything sounds really clear.

Have to agree with the folks that give this pressing a thumbs up. Very clean sounding if you have your rig setup correctly. Even picked up a few instruments that were previously buried in the mix on previous releases. I do have to say it's bass heavy on my opinion and there may have been a little too much compression, but not enough to take away from the experience. I DO want to check out the Holland pressing everyone keeps talking about though!

The comments here put me off buying this for quite a while, and I was going to buy the newer pressing when i found it at the right price. But I managed to get this version sealed and shipped for €20.
It's perfect. Zero issues and sounds fantastic.
