Mia Doi Todd brings her folksy attitude to Plug Research with MANZANITA. Her voice, with its slight quivers, stands at the center of her compositions, but she's able to craft a thrumming sadness on "The Way." "What If We Do?" is much more sedate, and the simplicity of "My Room Is White" and "Muscle, Bone & Blood" are rather haunting. "The Last Night Of Winter" has a nice warmth to it, though the reggae of "Casa Nova" isn't quite so convincing. But the maternal delicacy of "I Gave You My Home" makes up for that shortcoming. Very sweet and tender.
