Nice to hear Nina Kraviz play 'An Acid Memory' from this on her Boiler Room Berlin Mix.

Bird on E is the clear classic here. But this is a good album altogether. Don't overlook the title track for big floor filling techno with a nice melodic edge, a bit of acid and crazy 909 action. An Acid Memory does the acid business, Bass Man is a slower, louder, playful acidy number, and Black Circles is a flanged minimal mid-tempo builder. The Hardfloor contribution has not aged well at all!

This record is always in my flight case. Why? Birds On “E”, simple. Yes there are other tracks on this album: “The Bass Man” is a nice acid-house track. The rest is, well, I don’t have a clue and I couldn’t care less to be honest. Even if this was a triple album filled with crap but with Birds On “E” on it I would have bought it. Yep, this track is incredible, perhaps the sickest acid track ever. This shit is mental, aggressive, mean and cuts off your throat with a rusty knife. The 909 patterns are absolutely fantastic: hard, militant and pounding drums with kicks that come in an out at exactly the right places. But the 303 line gets all the attention here, simple, screaming as a bird and mental, just sick! Real acid madness from “back in the days”, a rave without this track was just unthinkable (even today). If you like tracks like Hardfloor’s “Roarrrr”, you’ll definitely like Birds On “E”. This is typical naïve mid-nineties brutality that we don’t hear often nowadays. I’ve seen a lot of people (including me) going mad on this one. I wonder what Mike was smoking when making this…

Wharehouse style mental techno. A driving crescendo/decrescendo of analog madness. "Move" (Hardfloor remix) was the popular floorfiller, but "Birds on E" is the evil freeze-you-to-the-woofer mindbomb. Dated now but experiments like this are not made anymore which is too bad.
