What a fantastic tribute to the genius that was Anthony H. Wilson, growing up in the Granada area in the 70's & '80's I have a lot to be thankful for thanks to Tony Wilson. My musical education was crafted and formed as Wilson gave airtime on TV, to bands that would go on to become some of my favourites then as they are still now. Then John Peel would play them on the radio at night, and the Factory name became embedded in my heart as it still is today.
The poem it's self reads like a who's who of my own personal collection, and the first time I heard it I was covered in goosebumps. The next time I heard it which was 6 minutes later, a tear ran from my eye in memory of those mentioned no longer with us. Many of which were far too young for us to be mourning them now, let alone 10, 20 or 30 years ago when they sadly passed away.
I would have loved to of had a talk with Anthony H. Wilson, though some say he was difficult and cantankerous whilst others weren't so polite. Those that are the most passionate about what they believe in, can seem stubborn and hard to deal with if you don't share the same passion. When it came to music and the city of Manchester Tony's vision of what it needed, or better still what it really deserved there's no doubting his believe whatsoever.
Anthony H. Wilson I salute you.
