Milanese shifts over to Planet Mu from Warp, and, let's be honest, it was an inevitable move, as his aesthetic matches Mu much better. And what's the aesthetic? Grimy bass and crazed breaks. "Mr. Bad News" showcases the bass, with growls and sharp sounds throughout, while "Dead Man Walking" has Virus Syndicate rasping over the rattling bass. The weirdly funky "Caramel Cognac" starts off more crisp, but once the wobble comes in, it's anyone's game, particularly with the sing-song female vocal samples skating over it and the horns and guitar at the end. Arguably the best track on the album. "Barry" takes a decidedly darker turn, and the off-kilter beats of "Sight Beyond Sight" only augment that feel before "Tony Sombrero" ends the album with some piano chords haunted by more mechanical overtones. Definitely worth checking out.
