Moodymann knows what to do with this classic and makes it a very interesting experience. The added piano is sublime. I think this release is not meant as a substitute, for the whole picture you will indeed have to get the D-mix on M-002 and the original for the Future song on M-001 (and many other releases on Metroplex).

As much as I love Juan Atkins and Moodymanns productions and No UFO's was such a seminal record, for me it was the first and probably my favourite Detroit Techno track, I'd have to say these are not the best mixes. You'd still have to buy a copy of the original for the blinding B side 'Future' which was replaced here by 2 very disappointing remixes, making this over priced double pack pretty much redundant.

If you want to hear No UFO's in all its glory buy yourself a copy of Metroplex-002 Night Drive instead, which also has the classic Time Space Transmat and the D-Mix of No UFO's on the B side which still sounds like a transmission from the future 32 years after it's release.

Did Juan get the clapping sample from Gary Numan's LP Dance track "Night Talk"?

Juan Atkins is pure genius. Clear, Cosmic Cars, Technicolor, No UFO's & pretty much everything he touches is trend-setting. His music forces me to get up & move my body in ways I never have before. His music has a 'Evil' element and that is the element I love most in dance music. Two words to describe his music, 'Floor-Getters'.

By the way, we rocked No UFO's in Chicago, it was part of the whole WBMX Hot Mix 5 rotataion (Heck I thought it was an import!) I know techno is it's "own thang" but NO UFOS's (an a whole lot more Detroit tracks) were foundational in the Chicago House Music history.

'No UFO's' single is the beginning of the solo carrer of Juan Atkins as Model 500 and one of the most important releases in techno history that came out through Metroplex, his label, in 1985.

Juan Atkins himself told me during an interview we did more than a decade ago (circa 2005): “The whole thing about *No UFOs* was the government’s message; what you’ve been told about "having No UFOs” was wrong – there’s got to be somethig right there."

When I first heard the wizard drop this track (future), I thought the electrifying mofo just landed his mothership on my roof. My porch lights burned out. The very next day I headed for Buy-rite music on 7mi, I had to hook up on this track. I gave a big shout out to juan, who just happened to be chillin' in Buy-rite that day.
Now, when I take this track for a ride on the 1200's, it still gives me chills. Those phased out synths and trade mark snares compliment the futuristic baseline, not to mention the piloting vocals.
