The Molnár Dixieland Band was formed by young musicians from Szeged in 1964. Even in the first years of their career the had big successes: they won prizes of high value at several festivals and competitions in Hungary and all over Europe.
The band celebrated its twentieth anniversary of existence with a country-wide tour, an outstanding event of which was their concert featuring trombonist John Mortimer at the Salgótarján Dixieland Meeting in May of 1984. Most of the compositions that can be heard now were recorded after that concert. (Imre Kiss)
