Brazen yet subtle, Premise EP is a masterful representation of the early days of techno and just how much of the future artists back in the day were projecting in their sound. "Sands" serves as a joyous prelude to the extended play, building a harmonious atmosphere between oscillating synth octaves and varying powerpoint slides of tight drum machine patterns. "Airpour" blends dark, subliminal messages inside syncopated claps with a hypnotizing, baby-like lullaby which drives the composition towards anachronistic points in time, using semitone intervals to advance its inevitably introspective rhetoric. "Smear" has a more loose, post peak-time feel, demonstrating a more sober, conservative chapter in Morgan Geist's consistent break/acid themes. The Connection Machine's remix of "Smear" screams midnight in a big city from the first seconds, a magistral closing to a deeply enthralling journey which shows Geist's happy, melancholic, angry faces; a truly personal manifesto which will forever stand the tides of time.
